A really good resource! Also, I thought that if the high temp limit switch had been tripped then the stove would shut down and would not allow a restart until the switch was manually reset. Is there enough liner to pull the stove to work on it and run it. Have you removed the blower to ensure there is no pet hair or massive amounts of dust bunnies in the impeller. Blown out the motor windings. Bearings could be catching and causing pauses in the blower as well. Keep us posted Edit: 3-in-1 electric motor oil to lub the fan! PS The convection blower snap appears to be gone on the most recent versions! By your original post, I can't tell if the unit is shutting down and needs to be restarted or not.http://domholidays.com/userfiles/dmtech-dml4117wd-manual.xml

Or is it just flashing intermittently when you're running it in the level 4 setting? Flashing 2 is a loss of vacuum sense, flashing 3 is a proof of fire issue, did not feed enough pellets to get ignition, stove runs out of fuel, etc. Hi temp switch on an empress is behind the surround on right side, believe it has gray wires going to it, vacuum switch has orange wires, proof of fire has brown wire. If the unit is running and you get that strobe effect, doesn't normally seem to affect anything, other than its annoying a bit. If you have an actual flashing 4 and shutdown, clean the convection blower, check that its running, etc. Enviro Empress FPI AC Enviro Kodiak 1700 FS wood- Progressive Burn Technology Quad Castile FS, 2009 vintage, keep it simple. Johneh, My stove has the Daughter Generation II control board, which does not have an auger light. The stove does not shut down. There also appears to be an audible click when the flashing starts and when it stops.I'll do what you suggest and then update the thread. Thanks! That too would reverse the number flashed. Now once the stove cooled and finally shut off, I can restart without going behind the panel and pressing the reset. One thing too, if an Empress insert is overheating and shutting off, clean the convection blower, its responsible for displacing the heat off the heat exchanger and into your house. I've seen many people want to replace the switch, but had dirty convection blowers too. Pellet Stove Parts, Accessories, and Hearth Supplies. A handful of issues can cause Enviro Empress pellet stove problems as well as problems with other Enviro pellet stove models. If your pellet stove fails to heat, this is actually a safety feature to prevent the pellet stove from overheating.

But sometimes other components wear out or work improperly, requiring the stove to be serviced by a qualified technician to bring it back to full functionality. Attempting those repairs on your own may also waive your warranty. However, you can certainly troubleshoot your stove to get an idea of what kind of a problem you're dealing with. Some of the Enviro pellet stove error codes have very simple fixes that you can perform on your own, and understanding what those error codes mean can help you stay safe and enjoy your pellet stove to the fullest. You can also plug the stove into a different wall outlet or check to make sure a fuse has not blown. Next, if thermostat mode is on, make sure the thermostat is turned up enough to cause the heat cycle to begin; raising the temperature on the thermostat a couple of degrees should suffice. As a safety precaution, the stove won't start heating until both of these doors are closed tightly. Likewise, ensure the burn pot liner is locked into place, lines up with the igniter tube (pull the igniter tube toward the burn pot liner to verify) and has no obstruction in its holes. If the stove still won't work even after you add more fuel, you'll need to talk to a technician. Something electrical is likely affecting the igniter, blower or fuse. The key is to strike a balance between too much and too little air in relation to the amount of fuel in the hopper. Too much air causes the fuel to burn too quickly, and too little air causes a buildup of smoke. This compounds the problem by preventing further airflow, and the fuel will not get hot enough to effectively put out heat. If that doesn't work, take a look at the combustion blower to ensure its motor turns. Even if the motor turns, it may not turn at the proper speed to create the vacuum that brings air into the combustion chamber. The agitator should also be checked to ensure it can turn.

If the agitator and the motor turn as they should and the damper settings can't be equalized, there may be too much negative pressure to allow air to flow into the stove. Try opening a window in the room for a few minutes. The exhaust temperature sensor may fail to work if the stove needs cleaning. Otherwise, a technician will need to examine the wiring for the sensor and possibly replace it. Finally, the fix could be as simple as switching to a higher-quality fuel that burns better and hotter than what you are currently using. If your fuel seems to ignite just fine but there's still a lot of fresh fuel in the hopper by the time the fire goes out, then the fire is going out before the stove tells it to. First, make sure you aren't allowing too much air to come in by decreasing the air combustion trim setting. Next, increase the auger setting by one level, and then try increasing the heat level (remember that if you're using a high-quality fuel, you won't need to increase the heat level as much as with a poor-quality fuel). The protocol is almost the same: decrease the air combustion trim and increase the heat level. In addition, inspect the stove to verify that it's clean, and clean it thoroughly if needed. If none of these tricks help the stove stay on, a technician will need to come take a look. Because the circuit boards are similar but not identical on pellet stoves, consult your owner's manual (which you can often find online if you've misplaced your hard copy) to verify what error codes are for your stove, especially if it is not an Enviro brand or is an older model. With that said, the common Enviro pellet stove error codes include the following: This problem can occur due to circuit board or convection blower failure. They also can access and make sense of a service manual that walks them through procedures to extensively troubleshoot your stove.

Also, if you run into a deadend while trying any of the above procedures to address an error code or to get your stove working, staying hot or staying lit, ask a professional for help. Understanding how to troubleshoot your pellet stove can help you take full advantage of their benefits, but don't be afraid to seek out a qualified technician for assistance. Freestanding pellet stoves and inserts that fit inside an existing fireplace are an increasingly popular solution. They look like traditional wood stoves but operate more like a modern furnace. A mechanical auger deposits the pellets into a burn pot, where they are incinerated at such a high temperature that they create no vent-clogging creosote and very little ash or emissions, which keeps both indoor and outdoor air cleaner.

And, despite its workhorse reputation, pellet stoves come in a variety of designs to complement any interior style. Pipes can run horizontally out an exterior wall, vertically through the roof, or up the chimney if adding an insert. If used daily, empty the ash pan once a week. Check with your state’s department of energy for details. Here are the other key differences between the two. Scrape the burn pot weekly to remove combustion residue and unburned pellets. Clean and inspect vents at the outset of heating season. Clean the chimney and inspect the stove and the door gasket at outset of heating season. Dealers will also deliver pellets by the ton. It's also sold by the bundle at stores or by the cord from tree-care pros. Pellets have a low moisture content, 5 to 10 percent, compared with 20 percent for seasoned firewood. In some regions, you may find pellets made of switchgrass or cornstalks. Corn kernels can also be used in lieu of pellets. If the whir of the fans or the hum of the auger motor bothers you, find another model. For a precise match for your space, have a dealer visit your home and recommend a model. If used for supplemental heat, one trick is to put the stove near a furnace return vent and run the furnace fan to circulate the warm air throughout your home. A ceiling fan with its blades turning in reverse can also help distribute warmed air. They can typically be placed 1 to 3 inches from the back wall and 6 to 7 inches from sidewalls. A second intake line provides outside air for combustion. A pad should extend 6 inches beyond the door. Most of the flame's warmth, plus warmed air from the rest of your house, goes right up the chimney. A dealer can help you find a unit and a metal surround to best fit your hearth's dimensions. But because a metal liner must be fitted inside the chimney for ventilation, installation is best left to a chimney specialist. This work may also need to be approved by a municipal inspector before the stove can be operated.

Here are some of our favorites. The ash pan is fitted with drawer glides to ease cleanup. Its size and 27,000-Btu output make it ideal for small spaces. Any more dust can create fused ash chunks, called clinkers, that block airflow into the stove. The last variable is sodium content; pellets should have fewer than 300 parts per million (ppm) to ensure an efficient burn. These logs are from Lopi, but most other stove manufacturers design sets for their units, too. These lattice-style cast-iron ones with a red enamel finish also add a pop of color to your stove. We love this western flagstone one with a running-bond design. This model works only with Napoleon stoves, but most manufacturers offer a similar setup.
